While James Talarico did make the remark about fossil fuels, it occurred years earlier in February 2022 rather than recently.
According to the Daily Caller, Donald Trump accurately quoted Talarico as saying 'fossil fuels are destroying the planet' at a forum where he wore a large mask. However, the Daily Caller notes that this event occurred in February 2022 rather than 'recently,' as Trump claimed in October 2026. Therefore, while the quote and context of the mask are accurate, presenting the statement as a recent occurrence is misleading.
