What we collect, and what we don't.

Short version: we collect as little as we can, we tell you why, and we don't sell it.

What we collect

Email, if you give it to us. If you subscribe to the brief, we store your email address to send it. That's the only thing it's used for. You can unsubscribe from any edition, and we delete your address on request.

Basic, privacy-respecting analytics. We may measure aggregate traffic (which pages are read, roughly where readers come from) to improve the newsroom. We use privacy-respecting analytics and do not build advertising profiles.

What we don't do

We don't sell or rent your personal data. We don't run third-party ad trackers. We don't require an account to read a check.

Third parties

We rely on a small number of infrastructure providers (hosting, email delivery, our database) that process data on our behalf under their own terms. Headlines in the “In the news” section link out to third-party publishers, whose privacy practices are their own.

Your choices

To access, correct, or delete data we hold about you, email coryh2014+baseline-privacy@gmail.com. We'll respond within a reasonable time.

You can also decline optional analytics in your browser, unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time, and request a copy of or deletion of information associated with your email address.
