Official House and campaign biographies confirm Troy Downing served in the U.S. Air Force/Air National Guard as a combat veteran with a Combat Search and Rescue squadron, including two tours in Afghanistan.

Downing's official House.gov press kit (Source 1) and his campaign website (Source 4) both describe him as an Air Force and Air National Guard veteran who served eight years with a Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) squadron, including two tours of duty in Afghanistan, and explicitly label him a 'combat veteran.' Trump's Truth Social post (Source 3) matches this characterization. These independent biographical sources corroborate the claim's factual basis, so it is accurate as stated.
