Mail ballots first sentOctober 14, 2026Advance ballots are mailed starting 20 days before Election Day (Oct. 14, 2026; K.S.A. 25-1123). Applications must be received by Tuesday, Oct. 27 (7 days out).
Return ruleIn litigation: a 2025 law requires receipt by close of polls on Election Day, but Kansas courts temporarily restored the 3-day postmark grace period for 2026. Officials urge returning ballots by Election Day.
Early in-person votingOctober 14, 2026through November 2, 2026 · Advance in-person voting may begin as early as Oct. 14, 2026 and must be offered from Oct. 27 through noon Nov. 2; varies by county.
