Mail ballots first sentSeptember 24, 2026Absentee/mail ballots are sent to applicants beginning 40 days before Election Day (Sept. 24, 2026; N.D.C.C. 16.1-07-04). No fixed application deadline - apply 'in a timely manner' so the ballot can be received and returned. Several counties conduct elections primarily by mail.
