Registration deadlineOctober 6, 2026Standard registration (online, in person, or mail postmarked Oct. 6/received Oct. 9) closes Oct. 6, 2026 (28 days before). Same-day registration with ID at county clerk offices and early-voting sites Oct. 6-31 and on Election Day.
Mail-ballot request deadlineOctober 20, 2026
Mail ballots first sentOctober 6, 2026Absentee ballots are mailed starting 28 days before Election Day (Oct. 6, 2026; NMSA 1-6-5). Applications must be received by Oct. 20 (14 days out).
Return ruleMust be received by 7 p.m. on Election Day
Early in-person votingOctober 6, 2026through October 31, 2026 · Early voting at county clerk offices Oct. 6-31, 2026; expanded alternate sites open Oct. 17. Varies by county.
