Mail ballots first sentSeptember 18, 2026Absentee voting begins 46 days before Election Day (Friday, Sept. 18, 2026; SDCL 12-19-1.2); ballots are mailed to applicants from that date. Written applications accepted until 5 p.m. the day before the election.
Return ruleMust be received by close of polls on Election Day
Early in-person votingSeptember 18, 2026through November 2, 2026 · In-person absentee voting at county auditor offices from Sept. 18, 2026 (46 days) until 5 p.m. Nov. 2.
