Registration deadlineNovember 2, 2026Register online, in person, or by mail through Nov. 2, 2026, and same-day registration on Election Day; register more than 5 days out (by about Oct. 29) to be mailed a ballot.
Mail ballots first sentSeptember 21, 2026Every active registered voter is mailed a general-election ballot automatically; the SOS mails ballots in late September so all voters have them by Oct. 1, 2026 (window Sept. 21-Oct. 1; 17 V.S.A. 2537a). No application needed.
Return ruleMust be received by close of polls (7 p.m.) on Election Day
Early in-person votingSeptember 21, 2026through November 2, 2026 · Early/absentee voting at town clerk offices once ballots are available (from Sept. 21) through Nov. 2; a mailed ballot can also be dropped off at the polls on Election Day.
