Background

Biography

Hallie Shoffner grew up on her family's soybean and rice farm in the Shoffner community near Newport, Arkansas, and describes herself as a sixth-generation farmer. She holds a degree from Vanderbilt University and a Master of Public Service from the Clinton School of Public Service, and is a Presidential Leadership Scholar. She served as the primary operator of the family farm for nine years, handling payroll and working with lenders and insurers, and closed the farm after the 2024 season, which she attributes to rising costs, weak markets and tariffs. She is the founder and CEO of Delta Harvest, a venture that connects Delta farmers with buyers and consumers, and serves on the board of the Arkansas Foodbank. She has never held public office. She announced her U.S. Senate campaign in July 2025 and won the March 3, 2026 Democratic primary over Lewisville Mayor Ethan Dunbar. She faces incumbent Republican Sen. Tom Cotton in the November 3, 2026 general election.
