Director of the Central Intelligence Agency
John Ratcliffe has been Director of the Central Intelligence Agency since January 23, 2025. He was Director of National Intelligence from May 2020 to January 2021 and before that represented the 4th Congressional District of Texas in the House.
Biography
John Ratcliffe earned a bachelor’s degree in government and international studies from the University of Notre Dame and a law degree from Southern Methodist University School of Law. During the George W. Bush administration he served in the Eastern District of Texas as chief of anti-terrorism and national security and then as U.S. Attorney. He was also a founding partner of the law firm Ashcroft Sutton Ratcliffe with former Attorney General John Ashcroft.
Ratcliffe served for more than five years as the U.S. Representative for the 4th Congressional District of Texas, where he sat on the House Intelligence, Homeland Security, and Judiciary committees. He was the sixth Director of National Intelligence from May 2020 to January 2021.
He was sworn in as Director of the CIA on January 23, 2025.
