Biography

Monica De La Cruz was born in Brownsville, Texas, on November 11, 1974, and graduated from James Pace High School in Brownsville. She earned a B.B.A. from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 1997. The House historian's record lists her as a business owner and insurance agent before she entered Congress.

De La Cruz was an unsuccessful candidate for election to the 117th Congress in 2020. She was elected as a Republican to the 118th Congress and has served in the House since January 3, 2023. She represents Texas's 15th Congressional District and sits on the Committee on Agriculture and the Committee on Financial Services.
