Ned Lamont is the governor of Connecticut, sworn in as the state's 89th governor on January 9, 2019, and in his second term since January 4, 2023. He earlier founded a telecommunications company and served on Greenwich town boards.

Biography

Ned Lamont was born on January 3, 1954, in Washington, D.C. He graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy in 1972, earned a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from Harvard College in 1976 and a Master of Business Administration from the Yale School of Management in 1980. After college he founded a weekly newspaper, and he later started a telecommunications company that his biography says served more than 400 college campuses.

He was a member of the Greenwich Board of Selectmen and the Board of Estimate and Taxation, and for four years chaired the State Investment Advisory Council. In 2006 he was a candidate for the U.S. Senate, challenging incumbent Joe Lieberman for the Democratic nomination.

Lamont was sworn in as the 89th governor of Connecticut on January 9, 2019, and began his second term on January 4, 2023.
