Sean Duffy

Sean Duffy is the Secretary of Transportation; the Senate confirmed him on January 28, 2025. He represented Wisconsin’s 7th District in the House from 2011 to 2019 and was earlier district attorney of Ashland County, Wisconsin.
Biography
Sean Duffy was born in Hayward, Sawyer County, Wisconsin, on October 3, 1971. He earned a B.A. from St. Mary’s College in Winona, Minnesota, in 1994 and a J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law in 1999. In his twenties he appeared on the MTV reality show "The Real World." He was an acting assistant district attorney and then district attorney in Ashland County, Wisconsin, from 2002 to 2010.
Duffy was elected as a Republican to the House and represented Wisconsin’s 7th District from January 3, 2011, until his resignation on September 23, 2019. He sat on the House Financial Services Committee and co-chaired the Great Lakes Task Force. After leaving Congress he hosted the Fox Business show "The Bottom Line with Dagen and Duffy."
The Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee advanced his nomination on January 22, 2025, by a vote of 28 to 0, and the Senate confirmed him as Secretary of Transportation on January 28, 2025, by a vote of 77 to 22.
