Biography
Stacey E. Plaskett was born in New York, Kings County, New York, on May 13, 1966. She received a B.S.F.S. from Georgetown University in 1988 and a J.D. from American University in 1994. She was an assistant district attorney in Bronx County, New York, from 1994 to 1997, served on the staff of the House Committee on Ethics from 1998 to 2002 and of the Department of Justice from 2002 to 2004, and was general counsel of the Virgin Islands economic development authority from 2007 to 2014.
She was an unsuccessful candidate for nomination to the 113th Congress in 2012. Elected as a Democrat, she began her service as Delegate from the Virgin Islands, an at-large seat, on January 3, 2015. She was one of the House managers in the 2021 impeachment proceedings of President Donald J. Trump. She serves on the Budget, Ways and Means, and Intelligence committees.
