Biography
Jeff Hurd was born in Grand Junction, Mesa County, Colorado, on August 15, 1979. He graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1997 and received a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame in 2001, a J.D. from the University of Denver in 2008 and an LL.M. from Columbia University in 2010. He was a law clerk at the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and worked as a lawyer; his House biography says his practice focused primarily on rural electric cooperatives. He chaired the board of directors of the Grand Junction Area Chamber of Commerce.
Hurd was elected as a Republican to the 119th Congress and has represented Colorado's 3rd Congressional District since January 3, 2025. He sits on the Committee on Natural Resources, the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology and the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.
