Biography
Patrick James Morrisey was born on December 21, 1967, in New York. He earned a bachelor's degree from Rutgers University and a law degree from Rutgers University, Newark. His official biography says he was a partner and practice chair at a national law firm, owned his own law practice, and served as chief counsel to the House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Committee.
His official biography says that before being elected governor he served as West Virginia's attorney general "since 2012", and that he is a former chairman of the Republican Attorneys General Association.
Morrisey took office as the 37th governor of West Virginia on January 13, 2025.
