Background

Biography

Tim Sheehy entered the U.S. Naval Academy at age 18 as a member of the class of 2008. His Senate biography says that after graduating he completed SEAL training, was assigned to an East Coast-based Naval Special Warfare unit, and served as officer in charge of Bravo Platoon, SEAL Team TWO, during a 2012 deployment to eastern Afghanistan. It says he also deployed to Iraq and South America and was later assigned to SDVT-1, an undersea command.

Sheehy left active duty in 2014 and founded Bridger Aerospace, for which he flew as an air attack and water bomber pilot. A company spun out of Bridger, Ascent Vision Technologies, began independent operations in 2016 and was acquired by CACI in 2020. He also co-founded Little Belt Cattle Company and the Montana Firefighters Fund.

His biography says he entered politics in 2023. The Senate lists his service as beginning on January 3, 2025.
