Biography

Christine Drazan is a Republican state senator from Canby, Oregon, representing Senate District 26. She was elected to the Oregon House of Representatives in 2018 and served two terms there, becoming House Republican leader in 2019 after the caucus replaced its previous leader. In 2022 she won the Republican nomination for governor in a 19-candidate primary and lost the general election to Democrat Tina Kotek by about 2.5 percentage points, in a race where unaffiliated candidate Betsy Johnson also ran. In October 2025, county commissioners from Multnomah, Clackamas, Hood River and Wasco counties appointed her to the Oregon Senate to fill the District 26 vacancy left by Daniel Bonham, who had announced his retirement. On October 27, 2025 she announced a second campaign for governor. In the May 19, 2026 Republican primary she defeated state Representative Ed Diehl, who finished second, former Portland Trail Blazers player Chris Dudley, who finished third, and other candidates. She faces Kotek in the November 3, 2026 general election.
