Background

Biography

Dan Osborn graduated from Roncalli Catholic High School in 1994. He served four years in the U.S. Navy as a storekeeper aboard the USS Constellation, then served in the Nebraska Army National Guard and later the Tennessee National Guard. In 2004 he began work as an industrial mechanic at the Kellogg's plant in Omaha, and he rose to president of his union, BCTGM Local 50G. He led the 2021 Kellogg's strike in Omaha, which his campaign says defeated proposed benefit cuts and kept the plant open. He lives in Omaha. Osborn is running for U.S. Senate in 2026 as an independent, listed on the ballot as a nonpartisan candidate. On July 16, 2026 the Nebraska Secretary of State's office announced that his campaign had submitted at least 6,096 valid petition signatures, above the 4,000 required with at least 750 from each congressional district, qualifying him for the November ballot. He faces Republican Sen. Pete Ricketts, appointed to the seat in 2023 after Ben Sasse resigned.
