Biography
Jim Pillen was born in Nebraska on December 31, 1955. His official biography says he grew up on a farm in Platte County and graduated from Lakeview High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in animal science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a doctor of veterinary medicine degree from Kansas State University.
According to his official biography, he returned to Nebraska in 1983 and opened a small animal practice and a swine consulting practice. He started Pillen Family Farms in 1993 and added DNA Genetics in 2003.
Pillen, a Republican, was sworn in as Nebraska's 41st governor on January 5, 2023.
