Josh Shapiro is the Governor of Pennsylvania, in office since January 17, 2023. He was Pennsylvania's attorney general from 2017 to 2023 and earlier chaired the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners and served in the state House.

Biography

Josh Shapiro was born in Missouri on June 20, 1973, according to the National Governors Association, and his official biography says he grew up in Pennsylvania. The association lists his schools as the University of Rochester and Georgetown University Law Center.

Shapiro was a state representative from 2005 to 2011 and chair of the Board of Commissioners in Montgomery County from 2011 to 2017. He served as attorney general of Pennsylvania from 2017 to 2023.

A Democrat, he was sworn in as the 48th governor of Pennsylvania in January 2023; the National Governors Association gives the start of his term as January 17, 2023.
