Kevin Hern is a Republican who represents Oklahoma's 1st Congressional District in the U.S. House, where the House historian dates his service from November 6, 2018. He was appointed to the vacant seat in the 115th Congress and earlier worked as an aerospace engineer and entrepreneur.
Kevin Hern was born in Belton, Cass County, Missouri, on December 4, 1961. He graduated from Dover High School in Dover, Arkansas, in 1980, received a B.S. from Arkansas Tech University in Russellville in 1986 and an M.B.A. from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1999. The House historian lists his occupations as aerospace engineer, computer programmer, real estate broker, farmer and entrepreneur.
Hern was appointed to the 115th Congress by the Governor of Oklahoma under Oklahoma statute to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Representative Jim Bridenstine. He was elected as a Republican to the 116th Congress and to the three succeeding Congresses, and the historian dates his House service from November 6, 2018. He represents Oklahoma's 1st Congressional District and serves on the Committee on Ways and Means. His House biography says he chaired the Republican Study Committee in the 118th Congress.
