Richard McCormick has served in the U.S. House since January 3, 2023, and represents Georgia's 7th Congressional District. A Republican and a physician, he served in the United States Marine Corps from 1990 to 2006 and in the United States Navy from 2013 to 2017.
Richard McCormick was born in Las Vegas, Clark County, Nevada, on October 7, 1968. He earned a B.S. from Oregon State University in 1990, an M.B.A. from National University in San Diego, and an M.D. from Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta in 2010. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1990 to 2006 and in the United States Navy from 2013 to 2017. He was an instructor at Morehouse College and the Georgia Institute of Technology and worked as a physician.
McCormick was an unsuccessful candidate for election to the 117th Congress in 2020. He was elected as a Republican to the 118th Congress and to the succeeding Congress, and his House service began on January 3, 2023. He represents Georgia's 7th Congressional District and serves on the Armed Services, Oversight and Government Reform, and Science, Space, and Technology committees.
