Roger Wicker is a U.S. Senator from Mississippi, a Republican who has held the seat since December 31, 2007, and chairs the Committee on Armed Services. He previously served in the U.S. House from 1995 to 2007 and in the Mississippi state Senate.

Biography
Roger F. Wicker was born in Pontotoc, Mississippi, on July 5, 1951. He received a B.A. in 1973 and a J.D. in 1975 from the University of Mississippi. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1976 to 1980 and then in the Air Force Reserve, retiring with the rank of lieutenant colonel. He worked on the staff of Representative Trent Lott from 1980 to 1982 and was the Lee County public defender from 1984 to 1987.
Wicker was a member of the Mississippi state Senate from 1988 to 1994. He served in the U.S. House as a Republican from January 3, 1995, to December 31, 2007, when he resigned to accept appointment to the Senate seat vacated by Lott. He took the oath of office that day, won a special election in 2008, and was reelected in 2012, 2018 and 2024.
He chaired the National Republican Senatorial Committee from 2015 to 2017 and the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation in the 116th Congress. He chairs the Committee on Armed Services in the 119th Congress.
